How much DNA do I need?
DNA input requirements depend on sequencing platform, genome size, and project goals.
Typical DNA requirements
For Illumina-based genome and metagenome sequencing, recommended DNA input generally ranges from 50–500 ng of high-quality genomic DNA.
Low-input options
If less DNA is available, low-input protocols can accept as little as 1 ng for small microbial genomes, though additional optimization may be required.
DNA quality matters
